Drayage software for the Port of Oakland
DrayTech runs live Oakland work every day: OICT, TraPac and Everport containers traced, appointments handled from the shipment, and billing and driver pay that follow Bay Area rules.
Oakland drayage from one screen
Oakland carriers work across several terminals, each with its own website, appointment rules and quirks. A dispatcher can spend the morning just checking which boxes are ready. DrayTech brings that work onto the shipment.
Terminals we work with
- OICT
- TraPac
- Everport
Appointments are handled with eModal Pre-Gate and the terminals' own systems, from the same screen as the container and the driver.
Tracing that knows the yard
DrayTech traces Oakland boxes for availability, holds and last free day. See container tracking. It also knows the details that trip people up. At OICT, a box sitting in a closed area of the yard is not marked available until it moves to an open block, so no driver is sent for a box that cannot be pulled yet.
Empty returns booked on assignment
At OICT, when a driver and chassis are assigned to the return leg, DrayTech books the empty return. The return is ready before the delivery is done, and the appointment shows up in the driver app. See terminal appointments.
Holds and fees flagged
Boxes on hold are marked on the board and are not dispatched. Boxes that owe terminal fees are flagged before a driver goes. Fees you pay are passed through on the customer's invoice. See holds and terminal fees.
Bay Area billing rules
Oakland moves often cross bridges and run to warehouses spread around the Bay Area and the Central Valley. DrayTech's billing handles that:
- Tolls billed to the customer and paid to the driver at your rates, including a separate tri-axle rate
- Chassis split rules by distance from the port when the empty returns somewhere other than a terminal
- Chassis days with your minimum
- Fuel surcharge as a percentage of drayage
Driver pay by lane
Oakland driver pay is usually set by lane. You load your pay sheet once, and each leg pays the driver who ran it at that customer's lane rate. Pay is posted to payables, ready for settlement.
Delivery orders read for you
Delivery orders arrive by email. DrayTech reads them and builds the shipment, using the DO's deliver-to address rather than the letterhead. Anything uncertain is flagged for a person to confirm.
Multi-leg and yard moves
Pre-pulls, yard storage, drop and hook, dual moves and street turns are all handled with the right driver on each leg.
A morning in Oakland with DrayTech
The dispatcher opens the board. Boxes that became available overnight are already marked. Boxes on hold are flagged and left alone. Boxes near last free day are at the top. As drivers are assigned, the empty returns at OICT are booked and the appointments show up in the driver app. When a driver leaves a customer, GPS stamps the time, and the invoice draft is waiting when the empty is back.
Running both coasts
DrayTech runs live work in Oakland and in Houston from one system. Carriers with more than one site see each site's board separately. See Port Houston drayage software.
